 Horse & Mule Training

•For mountain and rough terrain riding.

Horses and mules face their toughest challenges riding on steep, mountainous trails with lose rocks, tight switchbacks and creek crossings. Our horse training methods help develop the skills necessary for the horse or mule to handle rough terrain with confidence and safety.

Equine have the ability to learn and grow as performers on the trail. Our training program gives the horse an opportunity to learn new riding performance skills. A slow and deliberate process of exposure to increasely challenging trails helps the equine grow in ability and safety.

Riders will have the wonderful opportunity of exploring and riding mountain country with  confidence.

Equine that has experience in rough terrain riding are generally a more safe and confident riding animal in all riding conditions.

Rider and animal are matched up at the end of the training period for in-field riding experience and evaluation.

Ideal for equine 4 years old. min. Also ideal for older equine gone sour.

U-Trail ranch is located north of Glenwood on Hwy. 180 on the western edge of the Gila Wilderness.

•Conducted commercial wilderness pack trips for over 20 years within the Gila and Blue Wilderness in southwest New Mexico.
•Completed U.S. Forest Service Outfitting/Guide School.
•Led two expeditions for National Geographic magazine.
•Trained horses and mules for commercial riding and packing work.
•Completed the only non-resupply journey on the historic General Crook trail across the AZ White Mountains in modern times.
•Conducted countless elk hunting trips.
•Trained hundreds of riders and riding animals for specific skills in mountain and rough terrain riding.
